“I hadn’t turned up no heat…but I can do that… And we will do that.” Meridian Police Department holds press conference addressing gun violence

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Chief Sanders of the Meridian Police Department held a press conference on July 28 to address recent gun violence in the city, following three recent shootings. While no injuries were reported, the incidents are under investigation. Chief Sanders expressed his frustration with the violence, stating, “One shooting is too many… That’s a problem in our community.” He emphasized that law enforcement is prepared to take more decisive action against gang members and urged community members to stop the violence, ensuring that those committing crimes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
