#InBy10: OKC coalition hopes curfew initiative will reduce gun violence

Oklahoma City leaders have launched the #InBy10 initiative, a three-month program advocating a 10 p.m. curfew for youth to address an alarming rise in gun violence and deaths among young people during late-night hours. The grassroots effort, involving clergy, city officials, and law enforcement, encourages parents to ensure their children are home by the designated time without exceptions.

The initiative was prompted by recent violent incidents involving youth, highlighting the urgent need for community engagement in youth safety. Key leaders, including Rev. Derrick Scobey and local judges, emphasized the devastating impact of these tragedies and the necessity for community support to prevent further violence. The coalition plans to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative at the end of the 90-day period.
