Federal Agencies Reject SIG Sauer P320 Amid Growing Safety Concerns

Both Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command have stopped using the SIG Sauer P320 pistol due to safety concerns. ICE issued a memo on July 9, directing a ban on the gun and the purchase of Glock pistols instead. The U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command paused the use of the P320 after the weapon was linked to an airman’s death, pending investigation.

Concerns have been raised for years about the P320’s alleged susceptibility to unintentional discharges, which have resulted in injuries among users. SIG Sauer maintains that the weapon is safe, while numerous agencies and law enforcement have begun transitioning to alternative firearms.
