Rollover crash leads to DUI, felony gun charge for Trumbull Co. judge
A Trumbull County judge, 69-year-old Ronald J. Rice, is facing three charges following a rollover crash on July 18 in Vienna Township. According to the criminal complaint, Rice was driving a 2025 Mini Cooper when he veered off the roadway, struck two traffic signs, and overturned into a ditch. It was reported that Rice refused OVI testing at the scene. Additionally, the complaint revealed that a loaded handgun was found in his vehicle at the time of the incident. The charges against Rice include a felony count for improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, along with misdemeanor charges for DUI and failure to control a vehicle. An arraignment hearing for Rice is set for Tuesday at 9 a.m. He has been serving on the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court since his election in 2012.
