Court proceedings suspended for Eau Claire man charged with having a gun on school grounds
Court proceedings are suspended for 33-year-old Andrey Sichuga, who has been charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct. The incident occurred at Putnam Heights Elementary in April when Sichuga, upset about not being hired for a job he applied for, refused to leave the premises after ringing the doorbell. During a competency hearing, a psychiatrist from the Mendota Mental Health Institute testified, leading the court to find Sichuga currently incompetent to proceed but likely to regain competency over time. He has been ordered to be committed to the Department of Health Services, and a review hearing is set for October 21.
