Three Midlands moms are fighting against gun violence, urge participation in upcoming events
Three Columbia moms are advocating against youth gun violence in the Midlands after losing their children to it. Adrien Vonyetta Watson of JU’stice, Saleemah Graham of Mothers/Men of Slain Teens (M.O.S.T) Inc., and Lolita Frazier of Strut Talk Runway Therapy are leading the charge by organizing community events aimed at raising awareness.
On July 24, JU’stice and partners will host a firearm drop-off event at Second Nazareth Baptist Church, allowing anonymous firearm turn-ins. M.O.S.T plans its annual walk for missing and murdered children on August 2 at Richland Northeast High School. Additionally, Strut Talk’s fashion show fundraiser honoring mothers of murdered children will take place on September 28 at Columbia Museum of Art, themed “A Sun for my Son.”
For participation and support, the moms encourage community engagement.
