One person arrested, ‘ghost gun’ ammunition seized in New Rochelle police investigation
A man was arrested in New Rochelle after police conducted a search at a residence believed to be a hub for the illegal manufacturing and distribution of “ghost guns.” Officers seized nine unregistered firearms, nearly 150 rounds of ammunition, and various gun parts during the search on July 8. Rhandy Thor, 56, has been charged with multiple felonies, including third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Ghost guns are untraceable firearms that can be made from kits or by using 3D printers, making them difficult to regulate. Between 2016 and 2022, law enforcement recovered over 70,000 ghost guns in the U.S., raising concerns among criminal prevention organizations about their use by criminals and extremists.
