Philly mentoring organization Level Up holds balloon release for two of its own lost to gun violence

Level Up, a West Philadelphia mentoring organization, held a poignant balloon release to honor two of its members, Tayquan “Quany” Thorpe, 23, and Ajanai Stinson-Downing, 22, who lost their lives to gun violence in separate incidents last month. The event drew at least 1,000 youth as they remembered the lives and contributions of the young victims.

Pastor Aaron Campbell, founder of Level Up, emphasized the need for a healing space for the community, balancing grief with hope. Both victims are mourned deeply by their families, who are committed to keeping their memories alive. As they continue to support their community, Level Up aims to inspire youth amid ongoing challenges.
