Local nonprofit marks 20 years of support for families impacted by gun violence

For 20 years, the local nonprofit FEDUP has been a vital source of support for families mourning the loss of loved ones due to gun violence. Initiated by women who transformed their personal grief into a communal mission, FEDUP has evolved from initial meetings in homes and church halls to a strong network dedicated to supporting affected families. Co-founder Renea Penn Taylor and other members discovered healing through shared experiences of loss, promoting bonds that foster understanding and empathy.

From holding vigils to providing gifts for children, FEDUP continually stands by families during their hardest moments. The organization celebrates its milestone with a gala featuring Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, as a special guest speaker.
