Memorial vigil to honor survivors of gun violence
In recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Month, Alachua County Community Support Services, along with Gainesville Fire Rescue, will host a community remembrance vigil on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Squirrel Ridge Park in Gainesville, Florida. This event aims to provide a space for collective reflection and healing for those impacted by gun violence.
Community members are encouraged to participate in this meaningful morning of remembrance, which will include the creation of art stones—personalized tokens dedicated to hope and healing. The vigil will also emphasize local resources and support services available to those affected by gun violence. Project Coordinator Cassandra Moore expressed the hope that this event will foster mourning, reflection, and instill hope within the community.
