30 Years of Evidence, Impact, and Solutions | Center for Gun Violence Solutions

The Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions at the Bloomberg School of Public Health recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking three decades dedicated to research and solutions for gun violence prevention. Co-directors Josh Horwitz and Cass Crifasi emphasized significant progress in understanding gun violence, recognizing the contributions of researchers, advocates, and supporters.

Founded in 1995, the Center has pioneered the public health approach to gun violence, developing effective policies such as child access prevention laws and Extreme Risk Protection Orders. Recent developments include a merging with the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence, reinforcing advocacy and research efforts. The Center aims to reduce gun violence by 30% by 2030, a goal projected to save 14,400 lives based on 2022 statistics.
