Rep. Goldman reintroduces bill to fund gun violence prevention programs

Brooklyn Congressman Dan Goldman (D-10) has reintroduced his PROSPER Act to support gun violence prevention programs, which comes after the Trump administration’s recent cancellation of over $180 million in Department of Justice grants.

On April 28, Goldman held a press conference to announce the bill, aimed at investing in community organizations focused on gun violence intervention and prevention. The act seeks to provide these organizations with necessary resources to effectively reduce gun violence within communities. During the announcement, Goldman highlighted the importance of the funding that was canceled, which aimed to reinforce violence prevention and victim advocacy efforts across the United States. Representatives from various anti-gun violence organizations attended to discuss the success of their ongoing initiatives.
