A New Number Two Takes the Helm at ATF
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has appointed Robert Cekada as its new Deputy Director following the resignation of Marvin Richardson. Cekada transitioned from his role as Executive Assistant Director of Operations and brings extensive experience from various leadership positions within the agency, including oversight of criminal enforcement in multiple regions. He has a solid working relationship with the firearms industry and is supported by organizations like the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which commends his respect for the Second Amendment. Cekada’s appointment may hint at the Trump administration’s intentions for ATF reform rather than replacement, with a focus on violent crime and maintaining partnerships with the firearm industry amid calls from some lawmakers to abolish the agency.
